Blue Holger D

What

Blue Holger D - the name is a hint to the Danish legend "Holger Danske". A Viking King who is asleep under his Statue, and will wake up whenever Denmark is in trouble.

Blues in the Danish are Danish songs with texts by Jan Schønemann. They theme about childhood and youth experiences in the DSB city Nyborg. About trains and state prison.

You get some funny stories on scouting trips and
girlfriends who takes away with the ghostly train, and
the first musical experiences.

Jan has recomposed and translated more than 40 more or less known Roots and blues songs into Danish with an interesting and fresh result.

Blues in Danish is a relatively rare phenomenon with representatives as late Peter Thorup and Lone Kelleman, but it is actually a fresh and different experience. One is repeatedly surprised by the content of the texts, and music speaks to both the new blues lovers and those who want to be challenged a little.

He plays them duo with genuine Englishman Pete Gunner, but also in larger formations with Jens Holgersen and Freddy Caspersen,
and also with a six man band "Blue Holger D".
They have recorded a CD in November 2009 and during the autumn 2010 comes a second album.

CDs can be purchased from the "Music Collector" in Svendborg (on top of Miller Street)
or by sending an email here.
